We just got a potty yesterday. We sat her on it for about 10 minutes, bingo! she did numbers 1 &2 in the potty. We clapped and gave her a sticker. I know it’s not always gonna be so easy..Any tips? and are gerber cloth training pants better than pull-ups?

she will let you know when she is ready..dont force the issue on her….
if she went while sitting on the potty, then great job. For some parents it takes weeks before a child will go on the potty. We never used pull-ups we actually just put our daughter in to underwear that way if she went in her pants she new it and didn’t like it she learn to run for the potty ahead of time.
Even no-name training pants are OK – and cheaper.
You are doing everything right. Consistency is the key.
Soon, try underwear for part of the day – when she starts using the potty more often. Then, as she seems to want to go on her own, upgrade to underwear for daytime. When her training pants are clean and dry in the morning and she uses the bathroom right away, you are in home-run territory.
Girls are fairly easy. My oldest decided she would start using the potty on her 3rd birthday – she did! After over 12 years later, she never turned back (well, wouldn’t it be awkward, otherwise). Boys are more of a challenge, but again, consistency is key.
I just potty trained my little girl. She was 2 when we started. We used the potty train your kid in a day method, honestly it took about a week and we still have accidents from time to time but I can honestly say in a week she was trained (by that I mean she knew what the potty was for and got there in time 90% of the time). I highly recommend the cloth training pants, although this will be a bigger mess for you initially in the end it will be well worth it. I only put pull-ups on my daughter a few times – in long car rides or when she was sick and honestly couldn’t make it to the bathroom in time. I have used less than 5 pull ups on her and we call them her “special panties” for when she is sick. If you aren’t familiar with the train in one day method do just do a search, I bought my “book” off of ebay for maybe $5 and downloaded it. I know that a lot of the one day methods don’t use stickers, but I did we had a huge sticker chart right beside the potty for her which she loved!! Good luck
The sticker thing worked for me
that was a great idea. You can keep her in pull-ups for the time being, but buy her some pretty panties [I bought Dora ones, because that's my daughter's fave character], and tell her that she can’t wet them, or else she can’t wear them anymore. My daughter is almost 3 and she wears the pull-ups at night or when we go out, and panties during the day. The training pants didn’t work for me as a potty training tool, but the stickers definitely did. Make her a chart, and put all of her stickers on it so she can see what progress she’s making. Good luck and congrats!!
