My daughter will tell me immediately after she has gone potty in her diaper but never before. When I set her on her potty she won’t do anything for hours but as soon as I put a diaper on she will go. I don’t know what to do.

No it is not. The sooner you try to get them out of diapers the easier they will pick it up. If she can express that she has to go to the bathroom and know what to do when she gets there then you should not have much trouble.

Its not to young if she is showing signs of being ready if she doesnt show interest dont push it cause that could jus push her not want to learn how to jus take your time

Nope, not at all! Girls are usually easier to train than boys, and often get trained much earlier. (My own was trained by 18 months, basically trained herself!)

If she is showing interest in potty training (curiosity about what you do on the toilet, not wanting to keep a wet or soiled diaper on, letting you know when she’s wet or soiled her diaper), then it’s time!

Go for it, if she seems ready. My daughter was trained in about 5 days at 23 months, and I would have done it the month before but we were moving to a new city, and I just couldn’t put the efforts into it. I suggest you do the naked method. Kids that young are plenty old enough to pee in a toilet, but getting their clothes off (esp. winter clothes) is another story. We just did the naked thing for a few days, and rewarded with lots of stickers, and talked about it all the time, and it was very easy to accomplish.

    good luck!

No, that is not too young at all – it all depends upon the child – rather than thinking of it as Potty Training, ask yourself if she is showing signs of readiness to switch from diapers to potty.

If the potty is in the bathroom, when you go, take her with you – imitating parents is what kids do best, whether it is the way we talk to each other, or the way we eat or walk, kids love to copy us – use this to your advantage when you go to the bathroom, take her in with you and say that you are going Pee and she can go too if she likes.

If she is telling you when she has wet her diaper, then that is a sign that she is ready.

What I would do is choose a day where you don’t have to go out and plan to spend the day with her as she plays. Put her in little cotton panties for the day – she is going to wet them, but that is okay they are easy to get off and she will get the hang of it – or better still, let her go naked for the day. Serve lots of liquids – juice, water, whatever.

Don’t sit her on the potty, just bring it out into the living room or wherever you are going to spend the day and keep your eye on her and when she starts to pee, encourage her to sit on the potty – if only a couple of drips go in the potty, make a big fuss and tell her what a good girl she is!

With my kids, they got the hang of it so quickly this way, they love the praise and by being naked or just wearing cotton panties, they learn to recognize the feeling of a full bladder and know right away when they go.

My youngest was in little cotton panties throughout the day when she was about 20 months old, she “trained” herself – it is up to parents to make the transition easier for little ones, but they can do it easily when they are ready.

    Good Luck!
