Looking for some helpful ideas/tips – my 3yo girl is potty training, I’d like ideas on what to put on the couch/bed to protect them. She is pretty good about using the toilet, but sometimes she still has accidents. Also curious of any ideas/tips to prepare us for the transition to preschool/daycare toilet use. Thanks.
Hi – I think these are all good ideas. She is pretty good about going and usually tells me first “gotta go pee/poo” or “need the toilet”, and I give her reminders about every 1/2hr.
She is in underwear and uses the big toilet, and is only in pull ups at nights or if we are going to be in the car for hours or in places where we know there isn’t a public restroom.
But sometimes she still has an accident during the day b/c she just doesn’t feel like going and refuses when I ask (ESPECIALLY when I am babysitting this 5yo girl on the weekends- other kids I babysit there is no problem). We just bought a new couch and I just want to avoid any pee on it. Right now I just tell her she can’t sit on the couch but I feel bad about this. Plus, of course, try to switch her to underwear at night in the next couple months or so.
Right now I give her a sticker on her chart, sometimes a big sticker when she tells ME she has to go potty, and a piece of a cookie (tried no cookies, no luck.)

What age was your toddler when you started potty training your little girl? Did you use the fast track to try to potty train her? How did that work? We are going to start potty training our daughter soon. We are going to stay home all weekend to do it and try the fast track. I know kids who have been potty trained in one day. I am posing this question to working moms (or dads) who both work because their kid has to go to daycare like mine and so a parent won’t be home with their child every day. Thanks for your answers!
